Firm History

Jim Lipschultz and Mike Scherago began working together in 1997. At the time, Mr. Lipschultz was Managing Partner of what is now Gibbs, Giden, Locher, Turner & Senet LLP, and Mr. Scherago joined the firm as a fourth-year associate. Over the next ten years, Mr. Lipschultz and Mr. Scherago formed a close working relationship, developed and honed their respective practices, and forged long-standing alliances with their clients in the construction industry and business community.

In 2007, Mr. Lipschultz and Mr. Scherago ventured out on their own and formed Lipschultz & Scherago LLP, located in West Los Angeles, California. Between them, Jim Lipschultz and Mike Scherago have over 45 years’ experience representing clients throughout the construction industry, including public entities, developers, sureties, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Whether the case involves defending a multi-million dollar delay and disruption claim or pursuing a small mechanic's lien, Mr. Lipschultz and Mr. Scherago have been there. Mr. Lipschultz and Mr. Scherago represent many business entities inside and outside of the construction industry, in general business and commercial litigation, and in transactional matters.
